ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Diocese of Allentown has a new administrator, and a new pastor at one of its largest parishes.
Monsignor Daniel J. Yenushosky, who has been pastor of Holy Trinity parish in Whitehall, will become the diocese’s vicar general – the main administrator besides the bishop.
Additionally, Monsignor Edward R. Domin, pastor of St. Benedict parish in Mohnton, Berks County, will become pastor of St. Jane Frances de Chantal parish in Palmer Township.
Longtime St. Jane’s pastor Monsignor Stephen J. Radocha will remain at St. Jane’s as pastor emeritus.
Bishop Alfred Schlert announced the changes – among several reassignments in the five-county diocese and 78 parishes that includes the Lehigh Valley – on Sunday.
They take effect June 18. The bishop approves the changes in conjunction with the diocese’s priest personnel board – advisers who are priests within the diocese.
Longtime St. Jane’s pastor Monsignor Stephen J. Radocha is becoming pastor emeritus. Monsignor Edward R. Domin will become pastor after serving at St. Benedict parish in Mohnton, Berks County.
Besides serving individual churches and parishes, priests fulfill the pastoral needs at college campuses, hospitals, diocesan high schools, and at prisons and nursing homes, according to the diocese..
“Priests can be reassigned for a number of reasons, including openings due to retirements, professional development of priests, requests from clergy members, and the need for a specific skill or talent that is a good match for a certain ministry,” the diocese said in a statement.
