EASTON, Pa. - The city's Downtown area will be especially challenging to navigate this weekend.
The 2024 Easton Twilight Criterium — a bicycle race — will prompt several street closures Saturday.
The Greater Easton Development Partnership is advising about several changes in traffic patterns.
"We realize that, even on a holiday weekend, the road closures required to have an event like this inconvenience some of our Downtown residents and businesses," said Executive Director Jared Mast. "But we are trying this year to communicate the timing of the closures better than in previous years, and we have also worked with our race production partners to be more strategic with a rolling system of closures to get ready for the Community Ride, which kicks off at 1:15pm, and is a free event open to all.
"We are also trying to have our series of events welcome more racers, including a wheelie competition and a one-mile dash for our friends who are runners."
The following streets will be closed from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
- Northampton Street between Centre Square and Second Street.
The following streets will be closed from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
- Northampton Street from Centre Square to Larry Holmes Drive
- Third Street from Centre Square to Ferry Street
- Ferry Street between Third Street and Sitgreaves Street
- Sitgreaves between Church Street and Larry Holmes Drive.
The following streets will be closed from 1 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.
- Larry Holmes Drive between South Third Street and Northampton Street (full closure)
- Larry Holmes Drive between Northampton Street Street and Spring Garden Street (southbound closure)
- Northampton Street between North Fourth Street and Church Street
- North Sitgreaves Street between Church Street and Northampton Street
- North Second Street between Church and Northampton streets
- Pine Street intersecting between South Third Street and South Fourth Street
- Ferry Street intersecting with South Third Street will be one-way.
Criterium Race Route:
- The start/finish line is on Northampton Street at the intersection of Sitgreaves Street, heading west
- Left through Centre Square onto South Third Street
- Left turn onto Ferry Street
- Right turn onto South Sitgreaves Street
- Left turn onto Larry Holmes Drive
- Left turn onto Northampton Street toward the start/finish line.
