BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Happy Pride!
June is Pride Month, an annual celebration of the LGBTQ community.
The timing commemorates the Stonewall Uprising of June 1969, which is widely seen as the start of the modern LGBTQ rights movement.
Here are some of the Pride events in and near the Lehigh Valley, in order of when they will take place:
Sapphyre — A Sapphic Author Appreciation Event
When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 1
Where: The Sayre Mansion, 250 Wyandotte St., Bethlehem
Price: General admission $30, VIP package $459
Featuring: A celebration of Sapphic (lesbian and bisexual women) authors and their work.
Philly Pride 365
When: Sunday, June 2. The march is from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the festival is from 12 to 7 p.m.
Where: The march starts at Sixth and Walnut streets and goes toward the festival, which will be in Gayborhood from Walnut to Cypress streets, and Quince to Juniper streets.
Price: Free
Featuring: A 400-foot-long pride flag in the march, and stages with local performers, entertainers, artists, vendors, food trucks, community organizations and local bars at the festival.
Pride Night at the IronPigs
When: 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 4
Where: Coca-Cola Park, 1050 IronPigs Way, Allentown
Price: $20 for a package with a drink ticket, $17 for one without it
Featuring: Free Pride sunglasses for 18+ attendees.
Pocono Pride Festival
When: 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 2
Where: Stroudsburg Courthouse Square, 38 N. 7th St., Stroudsburg
Price: Free
Featuring: Music, live entertainment, crafts, children’s activities, a teen space, food trucks and drag performances.
Nazareth Area Pride
When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8
Where: New Creation United Church, 3730 Nicholas St., Easton
Price: Free
Featuring: Live DJ, drag performances, doggy drag contest, drag story hour, vendors and more.
Slate Belt Pride
When: 12 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 13
Where: Broadway Street, Bangor
Price: Free
Featuring: Food trucks, vendors
Lehigh Valley Pride
When: 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18
Where: SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem
Price: Free
Featuring: More than 300 vendors, artists, community organizations and sponsors, and accessibility features such as ASL interpreters, indoor sensory-friendly areas, spirituality space, and baby & tot spot.
