A history of rock hits
Godsmack’s self-titled major label debut album in 1998 sold four times platinum hit “Voodoo,” as well as three other Top 10 Mainstream Rock chart hits.
The band had its first No. 1 single with the title from its second album, 2000’s “Awake” — which sold double-platinum — then scored two more, “I Stand Alone,” which sold gold status, and “Straight Out of Line” from its third album, 2002’s platinum “Faceless.”
In all, the group has had 29 Mainstream Rock chart hits in its 26-year chart career.Billboard chart history
“I Stand Alone” was nominated for two Grammy Awards, and “Straight out of Line” for one.
“Faceless” started a streak of three straight No. 1 albums for Godsmack – with 2006’s gold “IV” and 2010’s gold “The Oracle” reaching the same peak.
The band continued its success into the 2010s with the gold 2018 album “When Legends Rise.” That disc produced three gold or platinum hits: “Bulletproof” and the title track in 2018, and “Under Your Scars” in 2019. The 2019 single “Unforgettable” also hit No. 1.
The band’s most recent album, 2023’s “Lighting Up the Sky,” produced the No. 1 Mainstream Rock hit “Surrender,” “Soul on Fire,” which peaked at No. 2, and this year’s “Truth,” which peaked at No. 4.
