BETHLEHEM, Pa. — They’re the linchpin of democracy — elections.
On Wednesday night, the civic education group Keep Our Republic, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Public Media and LehighValleyNews.com, presented “A Community Conversation: Trust in Our Elections.”
The hourlong program streamed live on LehighValleyNews.com and will be rebroadcast on PBS39 at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 21.
The panel discussion included a live studio audience and focused on how elections are run in Northampton County and Pennsylvania.
It’s intended as a forum to demystify the process and get answers to questions as the 2024 presidential election approaches in November.
LehighValleyNews.com politics reporter Tom Shortell moderated the conversation.
Panelists included:
- Lamont McClure, the Northampton County executive;
- Michael McDonald, director of policy for the Pennsylvania Department of State;
- John E. Jones III, retired chief judge of the U.S. Middle District Court of Pennsylvania and a member of Keep Our Republic’s Pennsylvania Advisory Council;
- Christopher Borick, a political science professor and director of the Institute of Public Opinion at Muhlenberg College in Allentown.
