Better Than Ezra, which topped the charts in the 1990s, will join the show with Sugar Ray and Tonic at Musikfest.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A 1990s chart-topping alternative rock group has been added to the Musikfest headline show that also will feature Sugar Ray and Tonic, the festival announced Monday.

Better Than Ezra, which had the No. 1 Modern Rock single “Good,” and the Top 5 Modern Rock hit “In the Blood” from its 1993 debut album “Deluxe,” will join the show at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, on Musikfest’s main Steet Stage.

Tickets, at $25 to $194, are available at the Musikfest website.

Better Than Ezra’s “Delux” broke the Top 40 and went platinum.

From its 1996 sophomore album, “Friction, Baby,” the group had two more Top 10 Mainstream Rock hits in “King of New Orleans” and “Desperately Wanting.”

In all, the group has released nine studio albums. Its most recent, “Super Magick,” was released May 2. Its last disc, 2014’s “All Together Now,” peaked at No. 43 – its highest-charting disc in more than two decades – since “Delux.”

The group has two original members: lead singer Kevin Griffin and bassist Tom Drummond.

Griffin also has written songs with other artists, including the No. 1 hits “Stuck Like Glue” for Sugarland and “Collide” for Howie Day, and others for David Guetta, Taylor Swift, James Blunt, Train, Blondie, Shinedown and others.

Griffin played at Musikfest Cafe in Bethlehem in 2016 and 2015, and at Sands Bethlehem Event Center, now Wind Creek Event Center, with his supergroup The Band of Merrymakers, also in 2015.
